The Cubs are affectionately referred to by the media and fans as "The Cubbies" and "The Lovable Losers", the latter due to their almost century-long championship drought. They are also known as "The North Siders" in contrast to the White Sox, who play on the city's South Side. The Cubs are one of the only two remaining charter members left in the National League, along with the Atlanta Braves -- and the only team still in its original city.
